Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong 성산일출봉)

After I got my driver’s license and little red car I went on my first road trip to Sunrise Peak on the east end of the Island. Although I didn’t make it there for sunrise, it was still pretty amazing! It’s basically a huge crater that was formed by volcanic ash and because of the uniqueness of its formation and structure, it has been named a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

If you’re lucky you’ll see some of the Haenyeo (female divers) working at this spot. They can hold their breath for over 3 minutes while they dive up to 30 meters deep :-0!

At the top!

Spring is coming 😀
